A baking legacy born in 1920s Harlem, rooted on Burbank Boulevard since 1962 — challah, bobka, and eclairs made the same way they always have been.
From Russia to Harlem to Valley Village
Phillip Levenson emigrated from Russia and opened a bakery in Harlem in the 1920s. That family tradition moved to Los Angeles, landing on Burbank Boulevard in 1962 — where we've been baking ever since.
The Same Recipes, Six Decades On
More than 60 years at the same address, and the approach hasn't changed. Artisan bakers use the original recipes to produce breads, pastries, eclairs, and decorated cakes — no shortcuts, no compromises.
The Baker and the Tile-Lined Oven
Head baker Jacob Evron finishes overnight shifts at 8 a.m. — then keeps baking. His dedication earned Continental's sufganiyot top honors in an LA-wide tasting.
Certified Kosher, Every Single Item
Every item is certified pareve kosher — including Pat Yisrael and Yashan designations — under the Rabbinical Council of California (RCC). That certification is the foundation of the trust our customers place in us.
The Valley's Shabbat Table Since 1962
For generations of Valley families, Continental is the bakery you call for Shabbat, every holiday, and every last-minute need. That relationship is built on 60 years of showing up.
